Buy One Ounce Texas Seal Intaglio Silver Rounds Online

The obverse of this Intaglio Silver Round features the official Seal of Texas. The Seal of Texas has been changed 5 times since its annexation by the U.S. in 1836, but the design has always featured a five-pointed star on a circular background. The seal originally read “Republic of Texas” but Texas was forced to change the words to “State of Texas” when it joined the Union in 1845. An olive branch and an oak branch were added on either side of the star in 1839 to represent peace and strength, respectively. Below the seal will be the words “ONE TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER”.

The reverse features the Gonzales Cannon, a Spanish weapon used in the Battle of Gonzales in 1835. The Mexican military lent the settlers of Gonzales, Texas, a cannon so they could protect themselves against frequent Native American attacks. As the political situation in Mexico worsened, in 1839 the Mexican infantry attempted to take the cannon back. When the Mexican military arrived outside the city, 18 settlers used multiple delay tactics to distract the soldiers until the Texian militia arrived. Once they did arrive, there was a short battle and after which the leaders of the two sides met and agreed to go their separate ways. After the Texian leader returned to camp, they raised a white banner which pictured the cannon and the words “COME AND TAKE IT” which is displayed at the top of the reverse of this round. “1 TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER” is also minted at the bottom of the reverse as well.

These beautiful rounds are minted by the Intaglio Mint out of Denver, Colorado.

This Intaglio Mint Silver Round would make a great gift for anyone from the great state of Texas or anyone who respects the illustrious history of the state. Purchase it at the lowest premium over the silver price today from SD Bullion.
