Commemorating the modern Gold Rush era, this coin program soldiers on with the latest release featuring the Alaskan Gold Rush, right around Nome, Alaska in 1858. It was a different time with a different mindset. Nome was a sea port without a harbor and was one of the biggest towns in Alaska at the time. Optimistic prospectors from across the world thronged the town, hoping to dig up a fortune.

Each of these coins contains 1 troy ounce of 0.999 pure silver. Moreover, they are recognized as legal tender by the Commonwealth of Niue, guaranteeing a face value of $2 (NZD).

The coin features a circular gap containing a plastic capsule that is visible from both sides. A thin 24-karat pure gold foil within this capsule celebrates the shiny, yellow metal that drove hordes of people towards this town in Alaska.

A rendition of a prospector along with his dog sled is imprinted on the reverse sides of these coins. He is ready to set out on his quest to find riches beyond measure within the far reaches of Alaska.
