Featuring yet another portrayal of the famous kookaburra bird, Perth Mint has launched the next set of coins under the
Kookaburra silver coin program – the 2018 1 Kilo Kookaburra Silver Coins.
The Kookaburra is a Kingfisher species native to Australia – regularly seen throughout the island nation. These large coins celebrate the rich natural heritage of the country with a beautiful design portraying this unique bird.
Each of these coins is struck using 1 Kg (32.15 oz) of 0.9999 pure silver. Moreover, the Australian government recognizes them as legal tender with a face value of $30 (AUD).
Obverses of these coins bear the striking image of Queen Elizabeth II like all other Australian coins. The letters ‘IRB’ indicate the creator of this portrayal – Ian Rank-Broadley. Furthermore, this image is encircled by the name of the Queen (ELIZABETH II), the name of the issuing country (AUSTRALIA), and the coin’s face value (30 DOLLARS).
The reverse sides of these coins feature an annually changing design with one constant – the unique kookaburra bird. This year’s design depicts the bird in mid-flight, while the moon is imprinted in the background in impressive detail. Perth Mint’s mintmark ‘P’ can also be seen on this side – proudly boasting the coin’s source.
These 2018 1 Kilo Kookaburra Silver Coins will make valuable additions to coin collections focused on collecting Australian coinage and/or keeping the Kookaburra Silver Coins up-to-date. Moreover, they make excellent investment assets for those looking to add a hefty quantity of 0.9999 pure silver to their precious metals portfolio.
