Yet another silver coin joins the Rwanda Lunar Ounce program this year, celebrating the celebrating the Chinese zodiac – the 2018 1 oz Rwanda Lunar Year of the Dog Silver Coin.
Spurred on by the success of the Rwanda African Wildlife series of coins, the Rwanda Lunar Ounce Silver Coins were introduced in 2017 – celebrating the Year of the Rooster in accordance with the Chinese Lunar calendar.
Each of these coins contains 1 troy ounce of 0.999 pure silver. Moreover, they carry legal tender values of 50 Francs as well – indicating the full backing of the nation of Rwanda.
The obverses feature the National Crest of Rwanda, which is an intricate design that symbolizes the values of the country. The words ‘BANKI NKURU Y’U RWANDA’ are imprinted above the crest. This translates to the National Bank of Rwanda.
On the other hand, the reverse side of this coin bears a unique design that celebrates the Lunar Year of the Dog. The image of a dog is created using geometric art – pieces of various shapes and sizes fitting perfectly to form an elegant portrayal. This mesmerizing design is framed by the name of the coin ‘Lunar Ounce,’ the year of issue ‘2018,’ and the purity and weight of the silver used in the coin.
These 2018 1 oz Rwanda Lunar Year of the Dog Silver Coins provide an excellent avenue for
pure silver investments towards expanding precious metals portfolios, while also allowing collectors to maintain a full set of this ongoing coin series.
