"Winter Wonderland" is a song published in 1934 by Felix Bernard and Richard B. Smith, widely considered as a Christmas pop classic. Over the years, over 200 performers have recorded this song. The song was written by Smith, a Honesdale, Pennsylvania, after he saw Honesdale's Central Park coated in snow. Smith authored the song while he was at West Mountain Sanitarium Center in Scranton, PA being treated for tuberculosis.

The Winter Wonderland coin is minted using 1/10 oz of pure .999 silver bullion by the Cook Islands. Each coin comes in a snow globe, with a blanket of snow along the bottom on the inside. In addition to the coin coming in a snow globe, the globe will come in a winter-themed box as well with the words “Winter Wonderland Globe Silver Coin” on the top of the box. The box will also have a cutout in the front, so you can see the snow globe in the box.

The obverse of these silver coins features a mother and father playing in the snow with their child and dog. There is a colorized snowman with a red scarf next to the dog, sitting under a snow-covered tree with a birdhouse on the lowest branch. The year of the coin, “2019”, is minted at the top of the coin.

The reverse of these Cook Islands coins will feature a recent depiction of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth wearing her crown in the center with the words “ELIZABETH II”, “1 DOLLAR”, & “COOK ISLANDS” minted around her image.
