2021 Palau Inca Sun Gold 1 oz Silver Coin

Introducing the 2021 Palau Inca Sun Gold 1 oz Silver Coin, a brand new limited edition release by CIT. This beautiful new coin celebrates the Inca Sun god. The god is celebrated on a gold disc. The gold sun disc was considered one of the Inca's most sacred and important objects. According to legend, it fell from the sky and was discovered in Lake Titicaca. It was three feet tall, made of rare translucent gold, and claimed to possess magical abilities. It was believed by the Inca to be able to heal any damage, stop time, and even start earthquakes.

 

The Incan people placed the sun disc in their Temple of the Sun. However, The temple was demolished by the Spanish Conquistadors in Peru in 1532. The Incas knew they were in grave danger and that the Spaniards were after their gold. Many hypotheses exist as to why the golden disk went missing. Historians' most common theory is that it was rescued by the Inca people and taken to another Inca city.

 

As a result, the story lives on through today, and no one truly knows where they disc ended up. The story is embodied in this new 2021 Palau Inca Sun Gold 1 oz Silver Coin. CIT has produced a beautiful 1 oz gilded silver version of the sun disc using its improved smartminting® technology.

 

Struck with .999 gilded silver, this coin weighs one troy ounce and has a silk finish. The coin has a face value of 5 dollars and is backed by the issuing country of Palau. The reverse features the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Palau.
