2022 1 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coins

When it comes to bullion investment, government-minted legal tender gold coins are among the most popular choices. In 1981, the Mexican Mint introduced Mexican’s first gold bullion coin to compete with the dominant Gold Maple Leaf and Gold Krugerrand at the time.

With this year's mintage level expected to be similar to last year's limit of just 1,050 coins, these are not expected to last long!

The Design

The design which names the collection celebrates the Mexican freedom from Spain, which dates back to 1821. 

The reverse features the Roman Goddess of Victory or the Winged Victory, which became a symbol of independence and a statue in Mexico City. Behind her, the two beautiful mountains that lay side by side embellish the horizon. Engraved on this side, the words “1 ONZA ORO PURO”, the year of mintage, and “LEY .999” provide information about the coin’s weight, metal content, and purity.

The obverse depicts the various designs of the nation’s seal, used over the years. The central design represents the current Coat of Arms with the country’s designation: “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.”

Variations

Besides the traditional one troy ounce coin, the Gold Libertad Collection offers fractional sizes from 1/20 oz coins to heavier coins, like the 5 oz gold coin, in brilliant uncirculated condition and proof versions.
