Although they are assigned $2 (NZD) legal tender face values by the government of Niue, this value is merely indicative of the support of a sovereign nation. This is because the coin’s silver value outstrips the face value by a significant margin.

A large snowflake features on both sides of the coin. A hollowed out and carefully crafted design depicts the snowflake on both sides.

On the reverse sides of these coins, a couple is seen skating on the ice below the snowflake design – as many do during the holiday season. The scenic beauty comes to life due to the coins’ proof finish, which enhances the designs and detail manifold.

The obverses, however, feature Ian Rank-Broadley’s rendition of Queen Elizabeth II below the snowflake design. The name of the issuing country ‘Niue,’ the year of issue ‘2017,’ the face value, and the purity and weight of the silver in the coin are imprinted near the rim on this side.
